Ironically, for a film that originated as a short film, Meyaadha Maan is overlong. Many scenes go on far longer than they should and make us wish they had been tightly written and edited. The premise — involving a dozen characters, and a half-a-dozen bags that look the same — does have the potential for a madcap comedy. The actors gamely try their best, but the weak writing never lets the film get into a rhythm where the jokes flow seamlessly. He seems to have decided that having a narration in the voice of the WhatsApp Swamiji is enough convince his target audience that they are watching a raunchfest.

The effect is quite similar to turning the pages of a flip-book. Thus, for every funny moment, we get three or four flat scenes. The actress is ably guided by the direction of Arun Prabu Purushothaman, who joins the list of first-rate debutant directors we have got this year.
