Check the fuses in the fuse box for voltage, use a test light. Turned it off briefly to go inside to tell shop owner that car had started. Hybrid vehicle has recall problems which makes vehicle stop running. Tried several times to start. Tried several times to start, headlights and dash lights would illuminate, but there was no indication of any power going to engine to start. Some of those options are a stretch, but do have an effect on the system. I am concerned I will be hit or my car.
The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. If the engine does not turn over the first place to look would be your fuses. I drove the Escape approximately 4 minutes, returned home, and killed the vehicle. The solenoid attached to the top of the starter can fail, as well as the components inside. The manufacturer was not notified. Jumping those two should engage the starter ,if cables are good ,an if there is B+ voltage at pin 30. You should not have to punch the key in hard especially us with arthritis then turn to get started.
I am scared for my safety. The failure mileage was 90,000. Trouble with lift gate not opening and not closing. The vehicle was taken to the manufacturer where it was diagnosed and repaired. She should ask if she can return it minus a fee if it doesn't. Coils and plugs were also replaced an additional 2 more times between 2009-2014. Had it serviced at dealer, asked dealer how to fix it or make light go out and on and on.
Without spark to ignite the fuel mix in the combustion chamber, the engine will not start. It sounds like it struggles for about 3 seconds after startup and then seems to run ok. Just not for the 1. Check fusible links where applicable. Will remain in this condition until car is shut off. Start - stop button is located in drivers right knee area and is two inches from similar looking climate control button. When you try to start the vehicle it will not start.
I was able to slow car - with other cars close behind- shift gear shift to neutral and apply brake pedal so that start-stop button would restart engine. I don't trust it and after 3 different Ford dealers, all of my own money to pay, car still doesn't work properly. Repair any sources of water entry. Would function, but no indication of ignition when key was turned. What a wonderful trip home it was.
The dealer stated the pcm had failed causing the coils and spark plugs to also fail. What happens when the key is fully engaged? Clean any corrosion that may be present and replace any damaged terminals. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The problem never affected me during normal driving, only when the car needed to be started. If they look really corroded, you need to clean the battery posts and cable connectors or replace the cables and try to start the engine. Had it fixed, paid out of my own pocket in southern California and thought problem was fixed.
It will not move out of park. On several occasions had to move the steering wheel back and forth to get it to engage. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed as a flinge that connects to the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the ignition switch failed to turn correctly to start the engine. Also I had to get the serpentine belt fixed last week as well. Vehicle was towed in after issue occuring 4x in a 2 mile drive. Stopped to get gas before making the 40 mile trip home, light went off.
I was near a gas station and as I was pulling in, the engine just stopped and the power steering went dead. Pretty common issue with these vehicles. Ford directs you to examine connectors C134 and C263 for signs of corrosion. Call dealership and they said they had not heard of a problem and let them know if it occurred again. Came back out, it would not start again. Wife picked me up and jumped me, and we drove over to the nearest Autozone car died twice on the way. Took the car to Ford dealer to fix and they acknowledged the problem and stated there is no fix at this time.
I got her out on driver's side backseat. The approximate failure mileage was 97,145. All dash lights and headlights, radio, windows, etc. Louis and the car just wouldn't start. I would start with the switch before trying the ignition cylinder. Need some more info as a lot of factors can affect hard starting. Today one more nightmare has began.
It does it now while I am driving. If the starter is not turning over then I would focus on it. Very often this could be caused by a low battery or poor connection between the battery and starter. My car is stalling making a noise, shaking and then no power just dies. The contact stated that when attempting to start the vehicle, they would have to make several attempts before the vehicle would start. Repeat this a half dozen times and then try starting the engine.
